16-20 October 2019
The seventy-first year of the most significant European autumn literary event will take place in Frankfurt am Main from 16th to 20th October. The stand will present the latest production of approximately twenty selected Czech publishers as well as novelties of Czech literature.
The book exposition will be complemented by a cultural program concentrated to four days. The opening of the Czech national stand and the opening of the photographic exhibition “Václav Havel 1989: From Prison to Prague Castle” will take place on Thursday 17 October 2019 at 3 pm.
In April 1989, Václav Havel, a Czech playwright and dissident, was awarded the Peace Prize of German Booksellers. At this time, the first and to date the last Czech winner of the prize was imprisoned for the fourth time. The photographic exhibition at the Czech national booth focuses on the person of Václav Havel and the year 1989.
German-speaking visitors can look forward to meeting Czech authors, Viktoria Hanišová, Dora Kaprálová or Radka Denemarková.
