The London Book Fair
A Global Event in The Creative Capital of the World
14-16 March 2017
After the book fairs in Leipzig and Bologna, the Czech Republic will also be represented by a stand operated by the Ministry of Culture at the book fair in London. As in the case of the previous two book fairs, the London event also offers space for business meetings and an extensive program focussed on all aspects of book culture.
The London book fair is known as a universal book fair, where the emphasis is placed on accompanying seminars and conferences as well as the presentation of authors and their new works. This year, visitors can participate in a total of six conferences focussed on various aspects of book production (data distribution, legal aspects, education or research), while the extensive program also includes more than two hundred seminars. The international PEN Club will hold its traditional meeting at the book fair and this year the book fair will once again attract visitors to authorial readings within the framework of the The Poetry Pavilion.
In the commercial sections, the Czech national stand organised by the Moravian Library in Brno will present 8 subjects which are active in the book industry, for example the Albatros Media, HOST and VUTIUM publishing houses or the FINIDR printing works. The stand´s non-commercial section will present visitors with Czech literary prizes and their winners, as well as the latest Czech literature in translation.
